Regent Graduate Named Hopewell High School Basketball Coach

Graduate of the M.Ed. in Educational Leadership, Shervi Barnes, is leading the Hopewell High School girls’ basketball team to new heights. Shervi has an extensive background in high school and college sports and played four years of basketball and softball at Southampton High School and softball and volleyball at Virginia State. As a coach, she’s led teams in multiple sports — including basketball, softball, volleyball and cheerleading. From her experience as a coach and an educator, Barnes has developed an academic-oriented coaching philosophy. She believes “that you are a student first and an athlete second. Academics come before athletics.”
